Technical Librarian
The Technical Librarian is responsible for the end-to-end governance, currency and controlled distribution of all technical publications and engineering documentation for Fiji Airways' fleets, ensuring compliance with Fiji Airways Technical Operating Procedures, CAMO requirements and applicable regulatory standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Register, version-control and link all incoming technical publications and revisions to the relevant aircraft, systems and processes in AMOS and/or the approved document management platform.
- Monitor OEM revisions, regulatory updates and internal procedure changes; assess impacts and coordinate timely incorporation of amendments into technical publications.
- Maintain the master register of all OEM, regulatory and internal technical publications, manuals, forms and controlled documents, ensuring timely updates following OEM amendments.
- Advise engineers of the correct revision status of essential aircraft manuals and obtain acknowledged slips within 30 days. Escalate outstanding acknowledgements to MABLM and MQA&C and follow up until received.
- Ensure mandatory publications and Airworthiness Directives are updated immediately in AMOS and stakeholders are notified of new or revised requirements.
- Manage controlled distribution of digital and physical publications to local and international Base and Line Stations, ensuring current revisions are available and acknowledgements are received.
- Maintain an effective filing and documentation system aligned with the approved Maintenance Programme, AD/SB status and applicable documentation standards to reflect current airworthiness status.
- Maintain inventory and location controls for manuals and technical documents, including issuance, withdrawal, return, disposal and traceable records, as well as a manual inventory list for all locations.
- Maintain a borrowing system to track manual withdrawals and returns.
- Ensure timely renewal of manual subscriptions and maintain a system to forecast and highlight renewal dates.
- Maintain adequate Engineering Forms, ensuring new forms are registered and uploaded to the FJ Intranet and AMOS as required. Maintain records confirming circulation and acknowledgement of Technical Information.
- Continuously review technical publication workflows to improve efficiency, usability and compliance, using industry best practice and EASA CAMO documentation standards.
- Highlight any backlog or delays in manual updates or subscription renewals to the Manager Technical Services to enable additional resources or funding to be considered.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Manager Technical Services.
- Utilise the full functionality of AMOS required for the Technical Librarian role.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Tertiary qualification or relevant post-secondary school training in Library/Information Science, Records Management, Technical Writing or Engineering.
- Experience in an engineering administration, technical publications, or library/information management environment, ideally within aviation.
- An understanding of Engineering & Maintenance requirements for aircraft maintenance manuals, AD/SB processes, and the role of Technical Publications functions.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Experience using computer-based maintenance control programs and document management systems.
