Senior Manager Ground Operations - Nadi
The SMGO-NAN oversees ground operations at Nadi (NAN) for Fiji Airways, Fiji Link, FBO, ad hoc operators, and Resort Check-in (RCI), ensuring safe, efficient, and on-time operations while maintaining service excellence and cost control.
This role drives strategic alignment with company goals, manages staff and service providers, and ensures compliance with safety, security, and quality standards. Performance is measured by on-time performance, baggage handling, stakeholder engagement, and maintaining APEX WorldClass and Five-Star Major Airline status.
Key ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Develop and execute strategic plans aligning ground operations and RCI with Fiji Airways' objectives.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Lead initiatives to improve station performance metrics, including on-time performance and cost efficiency.
- Ensure seamless execution of ground operations while maintaining safety, security, and quality standards.
- Identify risks and implement proactive measures to safeguard operational integrity.
- Ensure compliance with IATA, local aviation regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain strong relationships with airport authorities, government bodies, and service providers.
- Collaborate with Procurement to ensure service providers meet operational and financial standards.
- Represent Fiji Airways in senior-level forums to advocate for operational needs and customer experience improvements.
- Implement cost-saving measures while maintaining service quality.
- Manage the station's budget, ensuring financial targets are met.
- Analyze financial performance and recommend improvements for resource optimization.
- Set and monitor performance standards for direct reports, ground handlers, and service providers.
- Track station KPIs, including on-time performance, customer satisfaction, and baggage handling.
- Ensure SLAs with third-party providers are met, addressing any performance gaps.
- Drive initiatives to enhance customer experience and uphold the Skytrax 4-star rating.
- Address customer complaints through process improvements and performance management.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, implementing world-class service enhancements.
- Mentor and develop team members, ensuring professional growth and skills enhancement.
- Ensure compliance with mandatory training and address skill gaps through targeted programs.
- Promote a just culture of accountability, open reporting, and learning from incidents.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Aviation Management, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum 10 years in operational roles, with at least 5 years in aviation and 5 years in senior management.
- Dangerous Goods Acceptance and other aviation-specific certifications (IATA, ICAO, etc.) are highly advantageous.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex aviation operations.
- Extensive knowledge of Amadeus Altea (Customer Management, Inventory, and Reservations).
- Strong budgeting and cost-management experience.
- Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced analytical capabilities.
