Vendor Management Specialist

Fiji Airways is looking to recruit a detail- oriented and goal driven individual to fill the role of Vendor Management Specialist.

The successful individual drives commercial success and cost leadership across Fiji Airways' transformation program by managing strategic vendor relationships. Based in the Transformation Office, the role ensures commercial discipline, tracks contract timelines, supports negotiations, and partners with key stakeholders to align vendor strategies with business priorities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads vendor performance improvement initiatives across targeted categories.
  • Supports the design and execution of vendor resets, including contract renegotiation, RFP coordination, and benchmarking.
  • Develops and maintains commercial models to quantify potential and realised value (cost savings, avoided spend, and efficiency gains).
  • Tracks vendor KPIs against SLAs and initiates corrective actions plans in collaboration with business owners.
  • Builds and maintains contract register and sourcing calendar by function.
  • Lead development and rollout of the Vendor Management Office toolkit (templates, negotiation frameworks, benchmarking standards).
  • Coordinates closely with Procurement and Legal teams to ensure contracts reflect revised scope, service expectations, and cost structures.
  • Provides commercial support to Transformation initiatives by validating financial assumptions, supporting negotiations and option design (e.g., insourcing, JV, vendor changes), and preparing documentation to support leadership decision-making.
  • Drives reporting and performance tracking across key vendor-led initiatives, including value realisation dashboards, and SteerCo updates.
  • Advises on contract governance improvements and risk mitigation mechanisms.
  • Builds relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors to enable transparent, outcome-focused engagement.
  • Champions a culture of commercial accountability and cost-consciousness within transformation delivery teams.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of a degree in business, finance, legal disciplines or a related discipline with quantitative rigour.
  • 3 years of experience in vendor management, commercial contracting, or procurement in a corporate or consulting environment
  • CIPS or equivalent commercial/contracting certification would be an added advantage.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience building or validating commercial business cases.
  • Supported implementation of governance frameworks, including performance-linked SLAs and risk-sharing terms.
  • Track record of supporting contract renegotiations and/or managing vendor performance improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally under tight timelines.
  • Clear and structured written and oral communications, able to distil complexity into actionable insight for senior leadership.
  • Excellent organisational skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, sound judgment, culturally sensitive.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, keeping multiple priorities moving and not losing track of details.
  • Competent user of standard corporate communication tools and techniques - familiarity with contract lifecycle management tools or tracking dashboards is a plus.
