Reliability Engineer
This role reports to the Manager Technical Services and is responsible for supporting the continued airworthiness, reliability, and operational performance of the Fiji Airways and Fiji Link fleet. The role involves analysing technical and reliability data to identify operational trends, systemic issues, and compliance risks, while supporting corrective and preventative actions to improve dispatch reliability, fleet availability, ETOPS compliance, and on-time performance (OTP). The Reliability Engineer also supports fleet improvement initiatives, Maintenance Review Group (MRG) activities, and engagements with regulators and OEMs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:

Monitor and analyse aircraft defects, recurring issues, MEL usage, Hold Items, dispatch reliability, delays, and cancellations to identify trends, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions that improve fleet reliability and OTP.

Review and validate Engineering delay reports daily, ensuring accurate delay coding and timely coordination with OCC for corrections and reporting accuracy.

Track PIREPs, in-flight defects, recurring and repeater defects through AMOS, ensuring timely escalation, rectification, and communication with maintenance teams.

Maintain and update reliability databases covering recurring defects, ATA trends, strip findings, component reliability, root cause analyses, and corrective actions to support proactive maintenance planning.

Conduct reliability and statistical analysis including MTBUR, ISI, TFU, FTD, TPS, and structural reliability monitoring, engaging OEMs and vendors to resolve systemic issues and improve operational performance.

Develop and manage AMOS reliability monitoring systems for real-time tracking and resolution of operational and recurring defects.

Monitor engine and APU oil consumption trends to ensure compliance with AMM, ETOPS CMP, CAAF, and operational reliability requirements.

Monitor component reliability and removal trends, identify rogue units, and coordinate with OEMs and vendors to improve component and fleet performance.

Recommend and support reliability improvements including modifications, Service Bulletins, maintenance actions, and process enhancements to improve safety, efficiency, and dispatch reliability.

Lead daily OTP meetings and prepare fleet utilization, dispatch reliability, ETOPS, and operational performance reports for management, MRG, OTSM, OEM, and Board reporting.

Monitor and investigate ETOPS-related defects and incidents, ensuring timely reporting, compliance, and implementation of reliability improvements.

Prepare and submit AMOS Spec 2000 Chapter 11 and OEM reliability reports for Boeing, Airbus, and ATR fleets in compliance with regulatory and OEM requirements.

Perform monthly ALOS calculations and maintain accurate, compliant reliability data, systems, and reporting processes.

Fully utilize AMOS ERP functionalities to support Reliability Engineer responsibilities, reporting, analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or related tertiary qualification. Minimum 1-2 years' experience in a similar role may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.

Exposure to an aviation engineering or maintenance environment.

Sound understanding of ETOPS, ICAO Annex 8, Part 145, and continuing airworthiness requirements.

Strong working knowledge of AMOS or equivalent Maintenance & Engineering Information Systems.

Advanced analytical, statistical, trend monitoring, and data interpretation skills.

Proactive and solutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving capability.

Experience within a technical or aviation-related field would be advantageous.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
